What you fail to grasp is that his job is to help governments infiltrate their citizens' privacy to gain control over them and in turn to punish them if they don't agree with those citizens.

He's an infiltrator of basic human rights and he sees nothing wrong with it (if he did, he wouldn't have been at his job).

What do you think he's doing now in Russia? He's on a break? He's enjoying himself going to movies and restaurants?

He's still doing the same thing he's been doing when he became a "whistle blower": Spying on and helping devistate the citizens.
